Russian Bay, A peaceful and authentic place!
Located 20 km opposite Nosy Be, on the big island of Madagascar, the Russian Bay is a peaceful and protected place! This bay, lined with mangroves, will delight your heart with its calm and preserved beauty.
Russian Bay takes its name from the war between Russia and Japan at the beginning of the 20th century.
Part of the Russian fleet stopped at Nosy Be, then in this large bay (La Baie des Russes) while awaiting orders from the Russian general staff. Several myths, legends and real facts then merge...mutiny of part of the sailors, desertion...or abandonment of part of the crew...whatever it is, we still find traces of the Russian presence in this bay (house foundations, boat ink, etc.)
Russian Bay has only a few small villages, people living mainly from fishing.
Russian Bay is still a very protected place. After a beautiful morning at sea, find yourself in this magnificent, calm and serene place!
